About Decibels and Sound Measurement:

The unit used for measuring sound intensity is called a decibel. Since the decibel scale is logarithmic, a sound with twice the intensity of a reference sound corresponds to an increase of approximately 3 decibels. Understanding that each 10-decibel increase equates to a tenfold intensity increment from the reference point is vital as even small changes in decibel levels can significantly affect noise perception.
